10-B Final Free Choice Reflection May 29
1. My project is a bowl. I used soft white clay, and it took me about 3 days to make and complete it.
2. I did a good job with the symmetry because it all looks even, and it has good size and just the right amount of thickness.
3. I guess I could have made it a little deeper but not too much, because I had a little bit more room to dig in.
4. There's not really a deep meaning or theme, but I used the crispy orange so it looks crisp. The meaning of making the bowl can either be used for either a cereal bowl, or whatever my mom would like to use it for.
5. I focused on the form of the bowl, so I tried hard to make it symmetric, and I also focused on the texture by using the crispy orange which included little black and yellow specs in the paint. Those are important because they give a feeling to the artwork when looked at.
6. I have rhythm in my bowl, as it all looks the same, yet it all flows together and not just in a pattern.
7. I learned that I really enjoyed the freedom in doing what I want, I learned that in life you can really find what you like to do when given freedom in your occupation and you can find yourself to be creative.
8. First, I centered and formed the shape of my clay. Then, I formed the hole and widened out the bowl. Next, I formed a symmetrical upwards angle all around the bowl and worked on deepening the center hole and thinning out the sides. Last, I carved out a ring at the very bottom which only makes it look even nicer.
9. My project was planned, because I really enjoyed making my first bowl (which got stolen). I had a challenge when I made a mistake a carved to deep when carving into the sides and I thought I had wrecked it. But, I reformed it, and cut more carefully and now you couldn't tell that I had actually stabbed into it.
10. This was definitely a worthwhile project, I feel proud of what I've done and how it turned out. If my mom doesn't like the color, then I'd paint the bowl over the summer. But if not, then I would like to take drawing and ceramics next year.
