Overall
reflection 5-15-13
1. I'm not really sure what I did well, but I guess the strong parts are my quality of designs on the print layout like the baseball in the grass because it gives you a feeling and you can tell what it is.
2. I think I could have done a lot better with the inking because they don't look great and more sloppy than good.
3. My theme is baseball and I chose that because I love the sport, and we're in season. I also chose a Boston Strong one because of what recently happened at the Boston Marathon.
4. My multi on white paper with the black and yellow looks like the best to me because the color looks well spread out.
5. My rhythm still looks sloppy all together, because on mostly all of them the ink is spread out pretty poorly. But, my pattern is the same matrix over and over and again.
6. You need to take your time and get things just right, because the ink can either be too thick or too thin or there just isn't enough. Either way, you just can't win in printmaking.
7. First, I made my preliminary designs, and my matrix was one of them, but I was slow to actually choose it because I didn't feel that it would be all that original since somebody else had already made a soccer ball. Next, I cut out the design. Then, I added the ink. Last, I taped them all together.
8. If you ask me, I'd say this is an awful project. Why do we need to complicate carving and painting and put them together and just make this whole process that much more difficult? It all took too long and it was really difficult and nobody helped me through it. I also had to clean up after everybody else instead just after myself. Not worthwhile at all.
